Before you start
- Spotify Premium on your account, because Spotify only lets apps control the queue on Premium.
- Your own app, created in Spotify’s developer dashboard and connected to your Spotify account.
- Spotify playing on a device while requests come in.
Connect your account, then test !sr.
-
Connect Spotify.
Create your own app in Spotify’s developer dashboard. Add its credentials on the Song Requests page, then connect your Spotify account.
-
Request a song.
Type !sr with a song name, artist and title, or a Spotify link. The bot finds the track and adds it to your Spotify queue.
-
Keep Spotify playing.
Start Spotify playback on a device before accepting requests. Use !current in chat to check what your player is playing.
What to know before you turn it on.
- Spotify queue
- Requested tracks are added to your Spotify queue. !current reads what your player is playing.
- Live only
- Requests only work during streams by default. Each request method has a Live only switch on the Song Requests page.
- Who can request
- Choose who can use !sr in the dashboard, from everyone to broadcaster only.
- Limits
- Set the queue cap and how many pending songs each viewer tier can request. Your own requests are exempt from viewer quotas.
- Refunds
- A channel-point request that cannot be queued gets its points back, and chat is told why.
- Cooldown
- !sr, !srlist and !song have a 5 second cooldown.
Set viewer quotas and the queue cap in the dashboard. Moderators can use !skip to skip a track.

Setup questions.
How do viewers request a song on Twitch?
Viewers type !sr followed by a song name or Spotify link in Twitch chat. You can also create a channel-point reward that accepts the same input.
Where do requested songs play?
They go into your Spotify queue and play on your active device. The !current command reads your Spotify player, including tracks nobody requested.
Is the song request bot free?
Song requests are included in ItsBagelBot’s free plan. You need Spotify Premium to use them.
Can requests be limited?
Yes. Set per-viewer quotas and a queue cap in the dashboard. Moderators can skip tracks with !skip and remove a queued request with !remove followed by its position.
What do I need on the Spotify side?
You need Spotify Premium, your own app from Spotify’s developer dashboard, and a connection to your Spotify account. Start playback on a device before testing !sr.
I already use another bot. Do I have to start over?
You can import commands from Nightbot, StreamElements, Moobot, Streamlabs Chatbot, Fossabot or WizeBot. Review the import before saving, then set up Spotify song requests.
Why was a song request refused?
Check the bot’s reply in chat. Common causes are no active Spotify device, an account without Premium, or a connection that needs reconnecting in the dashboard. Failed channel-point requests are refunded.
Do requests work while I'm offline?
Requests only work while you are live by default. Turn off Live only for !sr or the channel-point reward on the Song Requests page to allow requests between streams.
